Sunday Worship.  This week's sermon will be from the book of Acts 25:6-12 "A Greater Appeal."
Wednesday Night Live.  Join us Wednesday, July 26 @ 7 p.m. in the Ministry Mall for our continuing exploration of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations.  Led by Dr. 3 and the Pastoral Team, we wrestle with what the Bible says, the cultural context, people, places of the time and what it means for us today.  Please read Leviticus 17-21 for next week's study.
Prayer Class.  Learn to build your prayer skills and deepen your faith development with Rosalyn Wilson every 4th Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Vaughan Chapel.  The next class is this Sunday, July 23.
Senior Fitness & Bible Study.  Join us at the Paseo Campus every Wednesday from 11-11:30 a.m. for light to moderate exercise done from the comfort of a chair!  A trained fitness expert will guide you through exercises that help strengthen you, and the fellowship will help motivate you.  Then, stay for Bible Study from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and get strengthened in the spirit!  Feel free to bring a dish and join us in the potluck lunch following our study time.

Bible Study at Renaissance.  Join us Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for Bible study at the Renaissance Campus.  There is food, fellowship and the Word.  Come out and grow with your church family!
Sunday School.  There are three adult Sunday school classes offered this summer at St. James UMC. The classes are the Women's Sunday school class, The Mixed Adult's Sunday school class, and the Men's Sunday school class.

GriefShare.  No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process.  The St. James GirefShare Support Ministry provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend and in a safe and confidential place that helps to put lives back together again.  We will walk with you on the path through grief toward healing and hope for the future. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives.  GriefShare is comprised of a video seminar series that features some of the nation's foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective coupled with support group discussions of these presentations.   GriefShare Support Group sessions will be hosted every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. for 12 weeks beginning August 24, 2017.  You may contact Rosalyn Wilson at 816-753-5998 or at for additional information or to express a desire to participate.  We look forward to your participation.

Acolytes Needed.  Children ages 4-12 are welcome to serve during our worship celebrations.  Contacts: Angela Baker (8 a.m.) at or Risë Cockerm (11 a.m.) at
Little Vessel Ushers and Youth Ushers.  Children ages 5-11 and youth ages 12-18 serve as ushers every 3rd Sunday during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship.  No experience needed - on the job training is provided.  The uniform is a white button down shirt and black slacks or skirt.  Contact Brenda Sylvan (children) at 816-942-4258 or Connie Frazier (youth) at 816-363-3468.
Connectors Needed. As most are aware the Welcome Center at the Paseo entrance has been operating since February, you can complete a number of vital tasks at the center.  You can pay your tithes, locate a number of activities to serve.  Next door in the hallway are refreshments provided by our Hebrews Ministry.  We are missing YOU, please consider volunteering one Sunday a month at 8:00 or 11:00 a.m. worship to assist at the center.  A signup sheet is available or you can contact the church office. Thank you for your ministry agreeing to serve:

Cleaver Senior Living Community.  The 40 Acres monthly meeting scheduled for August 2, 2017 has been  canceled. Frequently Asked Question FAQ sheets will be available at the Welcome Center. Regularly scheduled monthly meeting to resume in September. 
Forty Acres Team.  The grant writing ministry's initial meeting was a big success. You still have the opportunity to join this new and exciting ministry which will do great things for 40 Acres, the church and many other Ministries. The Grant team  is chaired by Phyllis Harris. The next scheduled meeting for the ministry is August 2, 2017 at 6p here at the church. You're welcome to attend!
